The Thames Marathon, now in its 8th year, is a 14km long-distance challenge swim from Henley-on-Thames to Marlow. It covers a beautiful stretch of the Thames and has become one of open water swimming's most prestigious marathon swims.
The swim is split into 4 sections. Swimmers will be required to exit the water at the 3 locks (Hambledon at 4km, Hurley at 10km and Temple at 11.8km) where food and drink will be available.
Wetsuit places - to apply for a wetsuit place please click Enter on the Wetsuit Category below. You will be asked to select your wave, please do so based on the following criteria:
Non-wetsuit places - there are a limited number of places open to non-wetsuit swimmers, subject to experience and ability. These have now all been allocated for 2018 and a waiting list is in operation.
Places do become available thoroughout the year, so we are operating a waiting list. If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please select the Non-Wetsuit Category below by clicking the 'Enter waiting list' button. You will be asked to fill in all your details, your open water experience, and to choose your wave (criteria as above). If approved, when a place comes available you will be sent a link that will allow you to complete your application and make your payment.
Tow Floats will be compulsory for all swimmers, both wetsuit and non-wetsuit.
Online registration will close at midnight on Saturday 4th August. On-the-day registration will be available, there will be an additional admin fee of £4.
